- ISSUE DATE: 04 January 2002. Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, transportation, supervision, and disposal necessary to furnish and install new backflow preventers within an existing fresh water supply system at two U.S. Coast Guard facilities. At Station Jones Beach (Nassau county) New York, one backflow preventer shall be installed in the mechanical room in the Station Building and a second unit shall be installed in the mechanical room of the Boat House. At Station Fire Island (Suffolk County) New York, a single backflow preventer shall be installed outside, between the mainline and the Station Building. This unit shall be protected from the natural elements by a Contractor provided pre-manufactured, insulated enclosure. This enclosure shall be provided with an integrated heater and alarm system that will provide a distinctive audible warning when the internal temperature falls below 40 degrees F. NAICS IS 235110. The period of performance is 90 calendar days after Notice to Proceed. Estimated cost of this project is between $25,000 and $100,000 dollars. Solicitation packages will be available on or about 04 January 2002. Proposals are due on or about 04 February 2002. This project is issued pursuant to the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program, and is unrestricted. THE FOLLOWING NOTICE IS PROVIDED AS INFORMATION FOR MINORITY, WOMEN-OWNED, AND DISADVANTAGED BUSINESS ENTERPRISES: The Dept of Transportation (DOT) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) has programs to assist minority, women-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire short-term working capital and bonding assistance for transportation-related contracts. This is applicable to any eligible prime or subcontract at any tier. The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid, payment and performance bonds up to $1.0 million per contract. The DOT provides an 80% guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses. Loans are available under the DOT Short-term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The max. Line of credit is $500,000.
