Description
This supercedes the announcement originally posted on December 17, 2001. The United States Air Force (USAF) is holding an industry review meeting on 17 Jan 2002 to discuss the development of a national responsive space-lift capability. The meeting will be held in Building A1, Room 1062 of the Aerospace Corporation, El Segundo, CA, and will be open to US citizens only. The morning session will introduce the tasking and interim status of the 120-day joint USAF-NASA study currently in progress that is examining DoD and NASA reusable space-lift requirements. The afternoon session is reserved for industry interaction with the different study teams. Breakout sessions will be held concurrently for the requirements/CONOPS, architectures/concepts, science & technology, and payload & sensors study teams to meet with industry representatives. Updates, agenda, read-ahead material, maps, and additional details regarding the meeting will be posted at the following website www.losangeles.af.mil/smc/xr by 7 Jan 2002. Read-ahead material will include SLI contract information, a 5-page white paper discussing the utility of a military space plane, and AF/NASA study teams' questions for industry. No later than two weeks following the meeting, the government requests white papers documenting industry comments and recommendations on the material presented. This is not a solicitation, but a Request for Information. The government will not pay for the information submitted in response to this request. Interested parties in the activities mentioned above should direct any administrative questions to the POCs below. Intent to attend, via registration form on the website, should be submitted no later than 14 Jan 2002. Visit requests should be directed to the following security POC: Mr. Jerry Campos of the Aerospace Corporation, Fax (310) 336-6983, Email: jerry.a.campos@aero.org
