Description
The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD), Dahlgren, VA is seeking potential sources and no cost product samples of non-developmental submunitions for use in a 5?/62 projectile. The submunition should be approximately 1.2 inches in diameter and have a stack height of approximately 2 inches. The submunition fuze should have at least two (2) separate safety features, at least one of which prevents arming until exposed to launch forces of setback or spin. Two (2) different fuze designs are required for the same submunition body. One of the fuzes should operate in a spinning environment (18,000 rpm maximum). The other fuze should operate in a non-spinning environment (20 rpm maximum). Six (6) non-loaded metal parts sets and related information will be required from all interested sources at no cost to the Government. The product samples will be loaded by the US Navy and assessed to ensure the design satisfies the US Navy minimum requirements. Proprietary data must be marked as such, on a page-by-page basis and will be kept confidential and protected where so designated. Evaluation of product samples will take approximately six (6) months and will be performed in Federal Government Fiscal Year 2003 (FY03). Product samples will be destroyed during the evaluation. This announcement is not a request for proposal nor does the US Navy intend to pay for any information or items submitted in response to this synopsis. It is anticipated that a solicitation for a firm fixed price contract with a base quantity of 750,000 units will be issued in FY04. Suppliers capable of furnishing these items should respond in writing no later than 22 Jan 2002 and include in this submission a body drawing with dimensions. Submit responses to Code XDS 118, Address: Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, Attn: Code XDS118, 17320 Dahlgren Road, Dahlgren, VA 22448-5100. Electronic or FAX submission is preferred to e-mail xds11@nswc.navy.mil or to FAX (540)653-7088. For more information call (540) 653-7478.
