Description
This is a modification to a previous synopsis issued on November 20th, 2001. The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) intends to issue solicitation N00024-02-R-2900 for preparation and accomplishment of one Engineered Overhaul (EOH) of the USS Providence (SSN 719) and two Depot Modernization Periods (DMPs) of SSN 688 Class Submarines and. Accomplishment is tentatively scheduled to begin in Fiscal Year 04 based upon an optimal schedule provided by the contractor. The EOH and DMPs include maintenance, repair, testing, and routine work on nuclear-powered submarines as well as modernization and the installation of major, high priority alterations. Performance of this effort will be in a private shipyard and drydock supplied by the contractor. Advance planning is to begin at time of award, which is tentatively planned for April 2002. Each DMP is scheduled to last approximately 13 months and the EOH is scheduled to last approximately 16 months. This solicitation is restricted ! to! nuclear-qualified shipyards. Offerors interested in obtaining a copy of the Request for Proposal (RFP) and being added to a list of potential bidders for this procurement should submit requests in writing to CDR Robert B. Birmingham (NAVSEA 02214) by either U.S. mail, facsimile (202) 781-4651 or e-mail to BirminghamRB@navsea.navy.mil. The solicitation will be issued and posted electronically on or about January 18, 2002 to the NAVSEA Contracts Website at http://www.contracts.hq.navsea.navy.mil/ where it may be found under its solicitation number and downloaded. The tentative due date for receipt of proposals is 8 March 2002.****
