- Description
- The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) will hold a business awareness conference on January 29, 2002 at Loews L'Enfant Plaza Hotel, 480 L'Enfant Plaza, SW, Washington, DC 20001 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. This conference will provide prospective contractors and recipients an opportunity to preview FHWA's and FMCSA's anticipated research and technology requirements for fiscal year 2002, and discuss any concerns or questions about doing business with us. Conversely, this conference will provide us insight regarding potential interest by different segments of the contractor and recipient community for our future requirements. The conference will address such issues as: When will requirements be released? Why are some requirements awarded as contracts while others are awarded as either grants or cooperative agreements? How do I market the FHWA and FMCSA? Should I consider doing business as a prime contractor or subcontractor? How do I know if my company is right for the requirement? Is teaming viewed as a positive or negative attribute in responding to a requirement? Staff from the FHWA Office of Acquisition Management will discuss acquisition programs covering such topics as advance planning, solicitation concerns, proposals/applications, regulations, and performance. Technical program managers from the FHWA and FMSCA will provide an overview of the planned acquisition projects in their respective program areas. Projects will cover such areas as research and development, intelligent transportation systems, safety, planning, and environmental issues. This conference will be of interest to large and small business firms, non-profit organizations, and academia. To help us prepare for this conference, please furnish us by January 14, 2002, your organization name and the number of persons expected to attend. You may furnish this information to Mr. Frank Waltos via e-mail at frank.waltos@fhwa.dot.gov , or call 202-366-4205 if you have any questions. We look forward to your participation.
