The United States Army Product Manager, Physical Security Equipment(PM-PSE)is seeking to identify potential sources for a Platoon Early Warning Device II sensor and monitor system to be deployed to the full Army, with deliveries to start in FY04. The system must be a commercial-off-the-shelf, non-developmental item. There is no Research and Developme nt effort in this procurement. The system components will undergo operational testing and Army standard type-classification. The PEWD II replaces the Platoon Early Warning System (PEWS) (LIN#P06148) on a one for one basis. A PEWD II system must be a sim ple, compact, lightweight, early warning sensor system consisting of a monitor, sensors capable of detecting intrusions by personnel and vehicles, transmitters, associated items of equipment and pouches/bags. Detailed requirements are contained in a valid ated operational requirements document that is available on request for review. Two key performance parameters are weight and detection range. No single component of the system in its operational configuration with power source, can weigh in excess of 1. 65 pounds. The PEWD II system weight cannot exceed fifteen pounds. One set of PEWD II sensors operating individually or in concert, must be able to detect personnel targets across a 450 meter front. Any contract that may be awarded will be a multi-year procurement for a currently planned procurement quantity of 7,000 PEWD II kits delivered over a four year period. Potential bidders for any future contract, will be required to demonstrate their solutions to the PEWD II system requirements procurement as part of the bidding process. Details will be announced in any future solicitation if it becomes available. Request that any party interested in being a potential supplier of PEWD II kits with deliveries potentially starting in FY04 provide: a) a Technical Description of five or fewer pages of their solution; b) not more than two Summary Charts describing their solution system concept; c) summarized detection test results against personnel and vehicles (indicate any organization that conducted/validated the tests); d) pricing as a function of quantity; and e) availablity listing for their product. Note: The solu tion must be available to be delivered in FY04. Format for the technical description, summary chart, test results, and pricing list is Microsoft Word or Corel Word Perfect and Microsoft Power Point and Excel or Adobe Acrobat PDF files.
