Description
The MK 556 Mod 5 Cable Test Set (CTS) is used at Heavyweight Torpedo Intermediate Maintenance Activities (IMA) to verify the operability of Torpedo MK 48 Mod 4, 5, and 6 and MK 660 Mod 2 Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) cable assemblies. The MK 556 Mod 5 CTS faces severe supportability issues caused by component obsolescence allocated to the system controller and printer assemblies. Based on projected failure rates and spare parts availability, these components will only be supportable until Fiscal Year 2002. This requirement is for the contractor to develop and fabricate one (1) MK 556 Mod 5 CTS Prototype replacement Controller & Printer assemblies in accordance with Performance Specification 7026152 (CLIN 0001). This replacement system shall provide the capability to mechanically and electrically interface to the existing MK 556 Mod 5 Cable Test Set test panels in order to verify the operability of the MK 48 Mod 4, 5, and 6 Torpedo Cable Assemblies and MK 660 Mod 2 Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) interface cables without affecting the system footprint or facility interfaces. The controller shall support testing for a maximum of two hundred circuits by providing the capability to simultaneously accept four (4) independent test drawer cables (Mk 556 Mod 5 test drawer cables populated with Amphenol connectors Part Number 115-32P). Cable testing shall consist of continuity, insulation resistance and HIPOT tests in accordance with Performance Specification 7026152. All test results shall be displayed and logged. Testing required to verify the performance of the unit against the requirements established in Performance Specification 7026152 shall be conducted at Navy facilities located at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division, Newport RI. The contractor shall furnish the associated data in accordance with DD1423 (CLIN 0002). The Government intends to award a firm fixed price contract using the procedures per FAR Part 12 and 13. Proposals will be evaluated based on Technical Capability and Past Performance. A request for quote will be issued approximately 15 Jan 02. Anticipated award date is 25 Jan 02. Delivery will be F.O.B. destination, Newport, RI approximately 120 days from contract award. All responsible sources may submit a quotation which shall be considered by the government. Telephone requests will not be honored. NAICS Code: 541330. NOTE: Our department no longer issues solicitations or amendments in paper form.
