- Description
- NA The U.S. Army Robert Morris Acquisition Center intends to award a single firm-fixed price purchase order utilizing simplified acquisition procedures to the University of Kansas, Center for Research, Inc., 2385 Irving Hill Road, Lawrence, KS, 66044-7552, on a basis of other than full and open competition [reference FAR Subpart 6.302-1 (b)] for the use of advanced molecular modeling tools to study the chemical reactivity of chemical nerve agents with the acetyl cholinesterase enzyme to discover prospective an tidotes and protection against chemical weapons exposed to humans, which relates directly to the SBCCOM chemical defense mission. This will be a 3 year effort. The University of Kansas's role therein is to employ a specific suit of computer programs (cal led SIMOMM) to probe the molecular structure of acetyl cholinesterase, predict nerve agent reactivity and explore the function and potency of prospective medical treatments. Activities complement those ongoing in SBCCOM in that they are carried out with d ifferent and unique computational methods that provide independent verification of the SBCCOM research. Past contributions to the aforementioned research project (included 18 months of direct collaboration with SBCCOM on the topic the University of Kansas has become an integral part of the research process. There are no other known facilities with the background knowledge already gained from the research project to satisfy these requirements. No quotation document is available. Any inquiries about th is announcement should be directed to Ms. Michelle Miller via e-mail, Michelle.Miller@Natick.army.mil or by facsimile, 508-233-5286. Inquiries shall be made no later than 31 January 2002. See Note 22.
