Description

NA The Corps of Engineers, New England District will be making a Request for Proposals for the Phase II of Cape Cod Canal Vertical Lift Bridge Rehabilitation Project Phase II involves the rehabilitation of the operating systems of the bridge. A general desc ription of the work is as follows: Raising and supporting the lift span; Removal & replacement of the main counterweight ropes; installation of Government supplied auxiliary counterweight ropes; Removal & replacement of counterweight sheave trunnion and s heave trunnion bearings; Improvements to mechanical system that operates the lift span; Removal & replacement or improve bridge service wiring, bridge control system, main drive motors, auxiliary drive motors and several minor repairs and adjustments to co mponents of the complete electrical system; Removal & replacement of main railroad rails and ties. The lift span outage cannot exceed 90 consecutive days. The estimated cost of the project is between $10-15 million. Solicitation shall be made available via the Internet on or about 1/30/02. The following Request for Proposal will be unrestricted. No paper copies of the solicitation or amendments will be available. The firms interested must register to receive the solicitation. Registration instructions are available on the internet at http://www.nae.usace.army.mil as well as the media by which the solicitation will be made available. Amendments, if any, to this solicitation will be made available at this internet site. Neither telephonic, mailed nor fax requests will be accepted. Those registering are responsible for the accuracy of the information on the registration list. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which will be considered by the New England District.
