Description
This is a notice of intent to award a sole source procurement to Photon Technology International Inc., Lawrenceville, NJ to provide: (1) a SPECTROFLUOROMETER-RatioMaster Model QM-2001-8, a cuvette-based high-speed ratio spectrofluorometer to the VA Maryland Health Care System, 10 North Greene Street, Baltimore, MD. This includes DeltraRAM-V illuminator (lamp housing with integrated igniter, 75-watt xeron lamp and power supply, and DeltraRAM-V monochromator with computer-controlled shutter), 1-meter liquid light guide with sample compartment adapter, Model MP-1 sample compartment with 10mm cuvette holder and motorized stirrer, one quartz cuvette, excitation and emission optics, mechanical emission shutter and filter holders (filters not included), computer-controlled emission monochromator, Model 814 switchable photon-counting/analog photomultiplier detection unit with power supply and 1527 PMT, Model MD-5020 motor driver, Model SC-500 shutter controller, computer interface, computer workstation with monitor and mouse, and FeliX software with user?s manual. Includes installation. This system is required to complement the VAMHCS?s Core Fluorescence Facility. This includes a Zeiss LSM510 Confocal laser-scanning microscope (CLSM), a Nikon fluorescence microscope equipped with a high-sensitivity CCD camera, and a fluorescence-activated cell sorter (FACS); and, (2) Photon-Technology International Solid-State Monochromator: Microscope-attached system. This part of the instrument ? ImageMaster Model M-51) couples an excitation spectrofluorometer to the existing Nikon fluorescence microscope. None of these instruments allow the measurement from a solution of fluorophore (such as proteins) or of the excitation or emission spectra of the fluorophore. This notice is not a solicitation or a request for offers. No solicitation package is available. A determination not to compete is solely within the discretion of the Government. Any response to this notice must show clear and convincing evidence that competition would be advantageous to the Government. Responses must be received no later than January 22, 2002, at 3pm, Eastern Standard Time. Responses can be emailed to the Contracting Officer at carol.pomraning@med.va.gov.
