Description
The Department of State, Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO), seeks to expand the base of firms with which it does business. To that end, OBO will host an Industry Day on Friday, April 5, 2002, at the National Academy of Sciences at 2100 C Street NW in Washington, D.C. Industry Day hours: 10am-3pm. OBO uses an industry-wide, cross-section of services, equipment, and supplies for the design, construction, and operations of embassy facilities around the world. Real estate services are used. Architectural, engineering, and general construction services are used for the design and construction of new facilities and renovation of existing facilities. OBO also uses services for operations and maintenance, to include preventive maintenance services, generator, roof and fire protection systems replacements, etc. Specialized construction materials, such as forced entry/ballistic resistant doors and windows, are required. Modular and prefabricated components for residences and offices that can withstand blast are also required. The Federal Small Business Technology Council (FSBTC) will handle registration on behalf of OBO. Interested parties should register before 3/13/02. There will be a nominal registration fee of $25. To register, call Liz Hood at 301/206-2940, extension 227, or go on-line to www.fbcinc.com/obo. Firms and vendors may be required to obtain a security clearance during the solicitation process or prior to award, depending on the product or service. The Department of State, at the appropriate time, will sponsor prequalified firms that do not possess the necessary security clearances. In order to do so, firms must meet the definition of a United States person in accordance with Public Law 99-399, Section 402 and 406. For additional information, contact Sandra Piech at 703/516-1968.
