Description
The Arboretum South Farm is part of the Beltsville Area, located off of Cherry Hill Road, in Beltsville Maryland. The research that has, over the past years, been conducted at the Glen Dale Research facility will soon be moved to the South Farm. Woody plant material will be planted in north to south rows in an enclosed area for evaluation. Water and electricity is available to the irregular shaped site that measures 310.896 x 265.7856 x 124.968 x 212.7504 meters(1,020 x 872 x 410 x 698 feet). The site is sloped from west to east. There is no current irrigation or plant material on the site. Requirements: The Arboretum requires an irrigation contractor to furnish and install an automatic drip irrigation system that has been designed for the South Farm research plot. The system shall be a stand alone system for multiple programable schedules. The system will use drip irrigation with in-ground quick coupler connections strategically located for use in planting new material. All piping from the main line shall be schedule 40 PVC pipe. A manual valve from the main line to the irrigation system shall be provided. The contractor shall install all lateral lines and headers for drip irrigation. The government will install a new water main and electricity to the site. Water will be delivered to the research plot from a 8 inch PVC main line that is currently connected to a backflow preventer. A prebid site visit is tentatively scheduled for February 20,2002. In accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation Part 36.204 the magnitude is between $25,000 and $100,000. The project is 100% set-aside for small business. The solicitation will be available on or after February 6, 2002, and will be distributed through the Federal Business Opportunities web site http://www.fedbizopps.gov/. All future information about this acquisition, including solicitation amendments, will also be distributed through this site. Interested parties are responsible for monitoring this site to ensure that they have the most up-to-date information about this acquisition. The NAICS Code for this requirement is 22131 . All responsible sources are encouraged to submit an offer that will be considered for award.
