- Description
- The Government is contemplating award of a contract to provide a wide range of engineering and manufacturing services, with emphasis on electronic, electrical and electromechanical engineering/manufacturing and technical support, technical/assistance, management and materials in support of all munitions/weapons programs at ARDEC. The contract will be awarded on a full and open competitive basis. Contract award is anticipated in the Mar to Apr 2002 time frame and will have a period of performance of 5 years. These services shall involve a wide array of TACOM-ARDEC projects and products that include guns, projectiles, mortar ammunition, Mechanical Time (MT), Electronic Time (ET), pyrotechnic fuzes, Safe & Arm (S&A) devices, warhead fire sets, weapon components, test equipment, and other related equipment. Specifically, the services shall support advanced weapons and munitions programs to include but not be limited to: Crusader, XM984 Extended Range Dual- Purpose Improved Conventional Munitions (DPICM), 120mm. Mortar System, 120mm Mortar Fin Assembly, LWI55 Howitzer, Navy 5-inch 54-cal EX172 Cargo Projectile Program, Navy 5-inch program and standardized stockpile enhancements efforts. The services shall also involve electrical and mechanical S&A's, fuzing system devices, multi-purpose warhead fire sets and smart fuzes incorporating EVW and MEMS sensors and devices (lD corrector, etc), and pyrotechnics fuzes, S&A's and other related devices. These services include all aspects of munitions systems design and development with major emphasis on electronic/electrical engineering and manufacturing, technical support, and the full spectrum of engineering services (mechanical, electronic, chemical and quality control) in support of munitions systems, and related products. Prototype manufacturing support shall be provided in the area of electronic Printed Circuit (PC) boards including design, analysis, fabrication, inspection and testing capability, which the Contractor must have in-house under his direct control. Short time response using in-house capabilities is required for the manufacture of electromechanical and small complex mechanical system/devices. Materials investigations/compatibility studies, producibility studies, failure analysis/investigations and technical risk analysis, technical cost analysis, life cycle cost analysis and design/fabrication of all types of electronic electromechanical and mechanical systems is required. The design/development of special assembly and test equipment, preparation of drawings for design and/or manufacturing, testing analysis at government test sites, program documentation support and QC inspection support is required. The Contractor also must have an established teaming arrangement with a MicroElectroMechanical Systems (MEMS) design/fabrication/testing supplier, as well as an established Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) design/fabrication/test supplier, both of which must have prior experience in military systems.
