Description
LAWRENCE LIVERMORE NATIONAL LABORATORY SEEKS PARTNERSHIPS WITH INDUSTRY TOCOMMERCIALIZE HIGH MOLECULAR WEIGHT POLYACRYLAMIDES POLYMER. Announcement: Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), operated by the University of California under contract with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), is seeking one or more industrial partners to commercialize LLNL's High Molecular Weight Polyacrylamides Polymer. Scientists at LLNL invented a novel method to make high molecular weight polyacrylamides polymer solution for capillary electrophoresis and other types of electrophoresis. The polymer has a viscosity average molecular weight (Mv) more than 700 kDa. The high molecular weight of the polymer enables superior separation capacities of capillary electrophoresis than presently available products on the market. For example, using the polymer as separation medium, scientists at LLNL achieved single base resolution up to 770 bases within 60 minutes with a capillary of 50 ?m i.d. and 40 cm effective length of separation of single stranded DNA. Under the same conditions and using presently available product on the market, the separation needs 75 minutes and only can achieve single base resolution up to 625 bases. The new polymer is easy to make with very low cost. In addition, it has a long self-life (at least up to one year, at 70C). LLNL is in the process to patent the invention. At the mean time, LLNL is seeking for industrial partners to commercialize the invention. LLNL is also looking for collaborative research and development to improve the invention and to explore other usages of the invention. Note: THIS IS NOT A PROCUREMENT. Companies interested in commercializing LLNL's High Molecular Weight Polyacrylamides Polymer should provide a written statement of interest and a description of corporate capabilities relevant to commercializing the technology. Written responses should be directed to: Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Industrial Partnerships and Commercialization P.O. Box 808, L-795 Livermore, CA 94551-0808 Attention: FBO02-003-290. Please provide your written statement within sixty (60) days from the date this announcement is published to ensure consideration of your interest in LLNL's High Molecular Weight Polyacrylamides Polymer.
