Description
The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) proposes to procure approximately 147 Tactical Aircraft Moving Map Capability (TAMMAC) Advanced Memory Units (AMU) with Mounting Plates and approximately 442 PCMCIA Mission cards, 302 PCMCIA Maintenance cards and 20 PCMCIA Map cards. The acquisition will include engineering investigations, evaluations, and studies involving the TAMMAC system. The contract will be awarded on a sole source negotiated basis to Smiths Industries (SI), Information Management Systems of Grand Rapids, MI 49512-1991 and will consist of a base award with option units. The options will include approximately 70 AMU systems with Mounting Plates and approximately 210 PCMCIA Mission cards, 140 PCMCIA Maintenance cards and 48 PCMCIA Map cards. The contract is anticipated to be awarded by June 2002. SI is the sole designer, developer and supplier of the AMU, its Mounting Plate and the PCMCIA cards and is the only company with the necessary technical data. SI is the only source able to satisfy the government?s requirements for TAMMAC AMU production installations in F/A-18C/D and F/A-18E/F, AH-1Z, UH-1Y, AV-8B and MH-60S aircraft. Delivery is required to be FOB destination to the aircraft manufacturer and is to commence in April 2003. The PCMCIA Mission/Maintenance/Map cards will be sent to the squadron receiving the aircraft. The production of the supplies listed requires a substantial initial investment or an extended period of preparation for manufacture. ***See note number 22.
