Description

THE USDA-ARS-ARS-CICG, AGRONOMY DEPARTMENT, ISU CAMPUS, AMES, IOWA. intends to procure on a Sole Source basis from Almaco, 99 M Ave, Nevada, IA, 50201. This Procurement is for modifications to an existing Allis Chalmer Gleaner F2. This is a sole source procurement under the authority of FAR 6.302.-1 (a) (2) (ii)]: We are modifying our Gleaner f2 plot combine by updating the weighing system so that we can measure test weight of corn and adding a plot sampling system so that we can sample each plot for grain quality analyses. The original plot modifications on our combine was done by Almaco. Almaco is the only vendor that we know of that can perform the modifications, provide the electronics that can operate the system, and write the software necessary to run the electronics. Since this system is so complex and new, it is also important the vendor be close to provide support if we need it. Finally it is imperative that the combine modifications be completed by August 31, 2002. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals.
