Description
The U.S. Department of Commerce, National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) has a requirement for an Architect/Engineering firm to design an elevator for NIST, Boulder, Colorado. This is NOT a request for proposal. This requirement is a 100% Small Business Set-Aside. Design services shall be performed by qualified architects, engineers, and personnel, experienced in the business of building elevator installation, upgrades and modifications. The designer shall furnish design services that include civil, architectural, structural, electrical and mechanical engineering as well as fire protection, fire detection engineering design services and vibration analysis. The Building 24 Plasma Physics Lab located on the NIST site is a two story cast in place structure which currently has only stair access to the basement and second floor. A new service elevator is desired to improve access for personnel and movement of laboratory equipment as well as access for the handicapped. The estimated cost for eventual construction is between $250,000 and $500,000. Selection Criteria will be based on the following: 1) Experience of the A/E firm with similar work. 2) The A/E firm's backlog and ability to meet the desired schedule for completion of the work. 3) The qualifications of the personnel the A/E firm would assign to the work. 4) Past performance on contracts with private industry and Government agencies in terms of cost control, quality of work, and compliance with performance schedules. 5) Location in the general geographic area of the project and knowledge of the locality of the project. This procurement is being conducted under Simplified Acquisition procedures, FAR Part 36. Firms desiring consideration shall submit appropriate SF-254 and SF-255 forms by close of business Friday, February 15, 2002. Forms may be found on http://www.arnet.gov/far/. Contact Michelle A.
