- Description
- The Contractor shall provide all labor, supervision, equipment, tools, and incidental supplies necessary for Hazard Tree Removal along approximately 73.5 miles of Forest Service roads throughout the Daniel Boone National Forest in Jackson, Laurel, Whitley, Pulaski, and McCreary Counties, Kentucky. There are two methods of work involved. Method 1 is Mechanical - using heavy equipment such as a trackhoe or backhoe to fell hazard trees. Method 2 is Manual - using chainsaws to fell hazard trees. Both methods include using chainsaws to buck the felled trees. The time allowed for this work is 1.8 workdays per mile of road. The hazard trees to be felled are generally Southern Yellow Pine trees killed by the Southern Pine Beetle within the past few years.
