Description
The National Data Buoy Center (NDBC) intends to purchase two (2) each solid state automatic weather stations for test and evaluation. Currently the only known system which meets the minimum requirements listed below is the Kaymont Model C-277 of Huntington Station, New York. After test and evaluation of these units NDBC anticipates possible procurement of up to 160 units at some later date. The automated weather station must meet the following requirements: (1) incorporates a wind velocity and direction sensor that detects Thermal Aura Variation (TAV) caused by the wind flowing past a heated cylinder; (2) contains air temperature and barometric pressure sensors; (3) must be compact and self-contained; (4) must be an all solid-state instrument with no moving parts; (5) components must be enclosed in a sealed, weather proof cylinder; (6) contains microprocessor for determining weather parameters, performing self-diagnostic tests, and transmitting data and status information; (7) intelligent device capable of transmitting data over an RS-485 serial digital interface. Technical Specifications: Wind speed - Range 0 - 80 meters/second. Accuracy (RMS) 0.2 m/s at 0 m/s to 3 m/s; 0.5 m/s at 3 m/s to 6 m/s; 0.5 m/s +/- 5% above 6 m/s; Resolution 0.1 m/s. Wind direction - Azimuth 0 - 360 degrees (with no electrical gap). Accuracy (RMS) +/- 3 degrees. Resolution 1 degree. Air temperature - Range of - 40 degrees C to +70 degrees C. Accuracy (RMS) +/- 1 degree C. Resolution .1 degree C. Barometric pressure - Range 500 to 1100 mbar; Accuracy (RMS) +/- 1 mbar at 20 degrees C, +/- 3 mbar, -40 degrees C to +70 degrees C; Resolution 1 mbar. Physical characteristics - Input Voltage either 12 or 24 VDC. Operating Temperature -40 degrees C to +70 degrees C. Maximum dimensions - Height 15 inches. Diameter 5 inches. Weight 10 lbs (or less). Delivery 45 days after award. FOB Destination to Stennis Space Center, MS 39529-6000. Interested parties are to provide descriptive literature for their commercial off-the-shelf product with request to receive the solicitation. Requests for the solicitation may be sent by mail, fax or e-mail. Requests must include vendors name, requestor's name, address, and phone number.
