Description

The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) intends to negotiate a Sole Source purchase order with Giesecke and Devrient America, INC. under the authority of FAR 6.302 and FAR 13.106-1. Award will be made on a sole source basis to relocate the BPS3000 System from the 2nd floor to the 6th floor. Sole sourcing will provide uniformity of the aforementioned equipment and to allow repair personnel the ability to troubleshoot the BPS3000 for which current personnel have already received training. GDAI is the manufacturer of the BPS3000. This machine is used by the Federal Reserve Bank System to examine all of the U.S. currency. Since the machine is a proprietary of the Federal Reserve Bank System, work on the machine is limited to GDAI engineering personnel. Specialized knowledge known only to GDAI is required to install and calibrate the equipment. This is only a notice of intent, not a notice to request. The resulting purchase order will not exceed the simplified purchase threshold. The procedures set forth in FAR 13.106-3 shall be used.
