Description
The William J. Hughes Technical Center, Atlantic City International Airport, NJ is soliciting white papers directed at new ideas for screening cargo and mail that is transported on passenger aircraft.
New system ideas are needed to provide enhanced security screening that is commensurate with the systems for checked baggage, carry-on baggage, and passengers. Systems should increase the level of threat detection, while minimizing the impact on airport and air carrier operations.
Offerors who can provide systems for screening are directed to submit a two-page technical summary (or white paper) to:
Mr. Joseph Gatto, Systems Integration Branch AAR-510, William J. Hughes Technical Center, Atlantic City International Airport, NJ 08405
In addition (but not as a substitute for the paper copy), an electronic version of the summary proposal will be emailed to: joseph.gatto@tc.faa.gov. The electronic version shall be provided in Microsoft Word or Adobe Acrobat.
There is no specific format for the two-page technical summary. However, at a minimum the summary shall contain the following items:
a. A description of the system technology, or technique; b. a description of the class of applications (containerized, not containerized, or mail) which the device may be useful to the aviation community; c. the current state of development of the system, technology, or technique; d. the estimated time it would take to develop a commercial prototype; e. a description of the proposed testing and evaluation procedures for the system, technology, or technique; and f. the estimated funds required for the proposed effort.
The summaries must also specifically address detection technology, through put, detection and false alarm rate. This announcement is for information only and is a request for 2-page technical summaries. The FAA shall not be liable for any costs associated with the preparation of responses to this public announcement, or reimburse or otherwise pay any costs incurred by any party responding to this market survey.
