Description
The National Park Service, Department of Interior, is soliciting proposals from construction firms having the capability to perform the work described below. Award of a single negotiated firm-fixed-price contract will be made to the contractor offering the best value to the Government and will require submission of both a technical and a price proposal. The Government will consider an offeror?s technical capability to be equally important as price. The solicitation, plans, and specifications for this project will be issued on compact disc and will be delivered by U.S. mail. Paper copies of this solicitation will not be made available. To be included on the bidder?s list, each prospective offeror should request a solicitation package in writing on company letterhead via facsimile to Mary Robinson, Contracting Services, National Park Service, P.O. Box 25287, Denver, CO 80225-0287, at 303-987-6645. Include company name, address, telephone number, email address, and point of contact. No verbal requests will be accepted. The work of this contract includes but is not limited to the following improvements to Ford's Theatre and the Petersen House: Ford's Theatre-upgrade of existing fire suppression system; installation of new fire alarm system; installation of a new HVAC direct digital control system; installation of new main distribution and branch electrical panels; installation of new theatrical lighting system; installation of new theatrical sound system; installation of new building public address system; installation of new museum lighting and control system; installation of new digital closed circuit television system; installation of new museum ceiling; upgrade of existing HVAC systems; installation of new lighting control booth; and general patching and painting associated with installation of items above. Petersen House-upgrade of existing fire suppression system; installation of a new fire alarm system; installation of a new electrical service, panelboard and branch circuit wiring; installation of a new digital closed circuit television system; upgrade of the hydronic heating system, installation of ground level enclosure of the back porch; improvements to side (ground level) access on the north side of house; window rehabilitation; exterior architectural improvements; installation of new attic insulation and ventilation; and hazardous material removal and abatement as required to complete items above. All work described above shall be performed according to special scheduling restrictions so as to minimize inconvenience to building users.-- Estimated price range, $1,000,000 to $3,000,000.--Time for completion, 540 calendar days. Proposal receipt date is approximate; actual date will be established at the time bidding documents are available.--All responsible sources may submit an offer which will be considered.--A preproposal conference will be held on March 12, 2002 at 9:00 a.m., at Ford's Theatre National Historical Site, 516 10th Street, NW, Washington, D.C.
