- Description
- The Department of Justice, Procurement Services Staff, intends to negotiate and award a contract to Protect Data Security, Inc. (PDSI) for a site license and maintenance of their PointSec security software product for laptops and similar portable devices. After conducting market research, the DOJ believes that the PointSec product is uniquely qualified to meet all of its requirements, which include complete disk encryption, use of one-time dynamic passwords, user/administrator friendliness, compliance with the appropriate FIPS, and compatibility with existing software and management processes. DOJ currently possesses a license with PDSI for the PointSec laptop encryption software for several thousand laptops owned by the Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys. At this time, we are expanding the use of PointSec software to all laptops and personal data assistant devices owned by the Justice Consolidated Office Network (JCON) community comprising of twelve DOJ components and approximately 33,000 systems. The resulting fixed-price contract will consist of the purchase of a perpetual license, updates, and 24x7 maintenance during the base year, and include four one year options to continue the update/maintenance contract. This procurement is being conducted under the authority of Section 4202 of the Clinger-Cohen Act of 1966, as implemented through FAR Subpart 13.5, Test Program for Certain Commercial Items, using simplified acquisition procedures. Other parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement by submitting written pricing data and technical information not later than fourteen (14) calendar days from the date of this notice. No solicitation document is available. A determination by the DOJ to continue with the sole-source, or convert this to a competed action based on the information received, if any, is solely within the discretion of the Government. No further notices shall be issued.
