- Description
- The purpose of this synopsis modification is to correct Ms. Magginas' e-mail address. The Office of Prevention, Education and Control (OPEC) of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) is issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) under a Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) which seeks contractors to become designated NHLBI Enhanced Dissemination and Utilization Centers (EDUCs) dedicated to the enhanced application of existing science-based information in high-risk communities to: 1) Better inform their communities of the public health burden of cardiovascular disease (CVD); and 2) More effectively plan, develop, implement, and evaluate well-defined, focused, theory-based education intervention strategies aimed at reducing the burden of CVD through changes in health care provider practice behavior, patient behavior, and general public behavior related to the control of CVD and associated risk factors and the promotion of heart-healthy behaviors. The BAA will result in performance-based contracts in that contractors will be required to focus on improving public health processes and outcomes related to implementation of cardiovascular health intervention in their proposals. This BAA is authorized by FAR 6.102(d)(2). The government intends to negotiate up to eight contracts for a period of three years. The BAA invites all responsible sources interested in performing this work to submit a proposal. BAA-HO-02-11, which contains detailed information on preparing the technical and business proposals, the technical evaluation criteria, and additional background information for this announcement, can be obtained on about February 28, 2002, from the following NIH website: http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/funding/inits/index.htm. The proposal due date is on or about April 15, 2002, 4:00 p.m. (Eastern Time).
