Description

NA The Government intends to release a solicitation for storage of household goods for US Government military and civilian employees. Contractors must have a facility within a 25 mile radius from any one of these ports: New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Ba ltimore, or Norfolk, VA. If interested - contact bellw@mtmc.army.mil no later than 28 Feb 2002. An eletronic draft solicitation release on 4 March, with pre-conference on 15 March in the Washington, D.C. Area. The Government is interested in industry input on ways to improve the services necessary for storage of household goods (HHGs). The contractor shall assume all responsibilities, liability , and costs for receipt/delivery, processing , storage and traffic management of HHGs from the point where the HHGs are received at the contactors warehouse, to the release of the HHGs to the carrier and/or customer. The contractor's responsiblities include(1) Customs and agriculture clearance, (2) compiling advanced documentation, (3)fumigation (if necessary), (4) handling in (5) storage, (6) estabishing release date with service member, (7) making arrangements for ca rrier pick up of released cargo, (8) handling out, and other services outlined in the Performance Work Statement, such as removal of HHGs.
