- Description
- NA The Fiscal Year (FY) 2002 Defense Appropriations Act provides approximately $85M to the Department of Defense Prostate Cancer Research Program (PCRP)(http://cdmrp.army.mil). Note that although funding mechanism names may be similar to those from last year , details on eligibility and preliminary data may have changed. We have also changed to electronic submission only, no paper, and no fax. The Idea Awards have a deadline of May 14, 2002, 11:59 p.m. at the sender of the proposal's location. All of the ot her PCRP award mechanisms have a deadline of May 16, 2002, 11:59 p.m. at the sender of the proposal's location. As usual, a Letter of Intent is not required, but appreciated, can be filled out on line, and can be sent anytime until April 30, 2002. This program has been administered since FY97 by the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command through the Office of the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP). FY02 PCRP Program Announcement invites proposals through five mechanisms: Postdoctoral Traineeship Awards, Health Disparity Training?Prostate Scholar Award, Health Disparity Research-Prostate Scholar Award, New Investigator Awards, Idea Development Awards. Highlights of changes from the FY01 Program Announcement: Applicants are required to submit one electronic version of their proposal in Portable Document Format (PDF) through the internet, proposal receipt deadline is different for each mechanism, letters of intent to submit proposals for the FY02 PCRP are requested electro nically through CDMRP web site. The Proposal Cover Booklet has been replaced by an Electronic Proposal Cover Booklet, which must accompany the electronic submission. Resubmission of proposals that have been declined for funding in a previous year may be resubmitted to the PCRP using a new process. Applicants to the FY02 Health Disparity Training and Health Disparity Research mechanisms must explicitly express how the proposed research is related to the disparate burden of Prostate Cancer among African Am ericans. Failure to do so may be grounds for administrative withdrawal of the proposal without further review. Applicants for the FY02 Health Disparity Training and Health Disparity Research mechanisms will have the opportunity to submit a written statem ent addressing the issues raised in the peer review summary statement. The written response will be forwarded to programmatic review along with the summary statement for consideration during the second tier of review. To be eligible for the New Investiga tor Award, applicants may not have received non-mentored funding from any of the following: National Institutes of Health (NIH), American Cancer Society (ACS), the National Science Foundation (NSF), or the DOD. Applicants will also need to provide eviden ce that they are within 6 years of their last fellowship or postdoctoral position. Documentation related to Regulatory Compliance and Quality issues (RCQ) should be available on the CDMRP web site by April 2002. You will be notified if you need to submit these documents to support your submission. Detailed descriptions, evaluation criteria, proposal submission requirements, and additional related information for all award mechanisms can be found in the FY02 PCRP Program Announcements. All documents may be downloaded from the CDMRP website (http://cdmrp.army.mil). This website also contains further information about the PCRP and other CDMRP-sponsored programs and events.
