Description
Contractor shall completely prepare site and furnish all labor, tools, material and equipment and supervision necessary to paint the bridge at the VA Medical Center, Bath, New York in accordance with contract specifications and drawing No. 528A6-02-639. This project includes removal of lead paint and repainting of the bridge on Veterans Avenue. The process of repainting the bridge involves a continuous blast and paint approach so that while one section is being painted, the next section is being blasted to remove old paint. The environment (air, water and sediment) will be monitored by the VA Medical Center during the course of the construction. The site work by the Contractor includes Traffic engineering and control ? The bridge shall be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The Contractor shall furnish, place and maintain traffic signs and other traffic control devices to reroute traffic. Cleaning, paint removal and repaint ? The Contractor shall remove all existing paint by near white abrasive blast cleaning followed by full application of primer, sealer, epoxy stripe coat, epoxy mastic and finish coats to all structural steel components as noted in this specification and Contract Plans. The Contractor shall complete the lead paint removal, painting and all related site work within six weeks from the start of this work. Containment - The Contractor shall construct, use and disassemble a containment system around the bridge to protect the environment, personnel and the river from debris. Sewer Pipe Insulation ? The Contractor shall remove existing thermal insulation around the sanitary sewer that runs along the bridge, re-insulate the pipe, and paint the metal jacket to match the bridge. The estimated cost range is $100,000 to $250,000. Pursuant to FAR Subpart 19.10 Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program this procurement is unrestricted. North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Number 235210 with a size standard of $11.5 Million applies to this procurement.
