Description: It is the intent of the National Library of Medicine (NLM) to negotiate with Bernard Quaritch Ltd., London, England, on a sole source basis for a firm fixed-price type contract for the acquisition of the "Johannes de Ketham's book Fasiculo de Medicina (1493/1494)" which is the first Italian edition of the first illustrated medical book. NLM has determined that there is no other source for this unique book. This notice of intent is not a Request For Proposals (RFP), nor is an RFP available. Based on authority cited in 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) (FAR 6.302-1(a)(2)), award to Bernard Quaritch Ltd. for this contract without full and open competition is planned. (See Numbered Notes 22 and 26).
