Description
Provide all necessary Architectural/Engineering services to Replace Hot Water Piping at the Bronx, VA Medical Center, 130 West Kingsbridge Road, Bronx, NY 10468. The scope of the project includes but is not limited to the following work items: Replace the lateral run of the domestic hot water distribution system,consisting of 6 and 4 inch steel pipe and valves, from the hot water heaters located in the ground floor mechanical/pump room of Bldg. 100 to the various risers in Bldgs. 100 and 101. All deteriorated pipe racks and hangers shall be replaced and the piping and valves shall be reinsulated. In addition to replace the main backflow preventors on the domestic water system for all buildings as well as all domestic water pressure reducing stations and associated valves. The A/E services will include various phases of design starting with a site survey and design analysis and following through with working drawings and construction specifications. A detailed cost estimate shall be required for each design review milestone. The A/E shall examine the existing piping system and ascertain causes of premature corrosion, tuberculation, scale build-up etc. and make recommendations which will extend the life of the new system, which may include different pipe materiel, the installation of ion filters etc. The A/E shall provide the VA with a list of all submittals required of the construction contractor. The project shall be phased to provide a minimum interruption to the normal medical center activities and coordinate all outage of all utility systems during installation. (2) All work shall be in compliance with VA design criteria, NFPA 101, NEC, etc. North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 541310. This is a 100% Total Small Business Set-Aside. Estimated contruction cost is between $250,000 and $500,000. Firms must be located within a 50 mile radius of the Bronx, VA Medical Center. SF 254's and 255's are due in this office by COB 03/18/02. This is not a request for proposal. Award is subject to availability of funds.
