Description
This notice serves as a Sources Sought Notice/Market Survey for informational purposes only and is not to be construed as a Request for Proposal or as an obligation on the part of the Government. There is no solication and no further information is available at this time. There will be no contract as a result of this Market Survey and the Government does not intend to pay for information received. The U.S. Army TACOM-ARDEC is seeking qualified firms with existing hardware or the capability to integrate existing technology, hardware/systems to meet the U.S. Army's needs for a Wall Breaching System. The Army is interested in reviewing and evaluating new devices/systems that are currently available in the commercial marketplace, or identifying offerors who can develop lightweight and rapidly emplacing devices. Currently, no ARMY item exists that breaches walls rapidly (current method of C-4 with non-electric initiating devices is extremely time consuming). The proposed devices/systems shall be capable of breaching and creating a man- sized hole through an 8" thick masonry brick wall or reinforced concrete wall (8" Double Weave No. 4 bar, 12' off-center vertical and horizontal). Additionally, the system shall provide a means of defeating a metal door and clearing various obstacles as may be encountered during Military Operations in Urban Terrain (MOUT). In addition, the item shall be man portable (less than 20 pounds), provide a fast way to create a man-sized hole in any direction through brick and concrete walls. The system may employ a mounting device for quick emplacement thus reducing time-on-target. Training in use of the device/ system shall be simple and easily understood by the soldier. No specialized training and/or skills shall be required to use the system properly. The system's main charge shall be flexible enough to adapt to various other demolition missions and be uni-directional in order to control explosive output and ensure safe use. Responses should include contractor capabilities, past experience, and any other relevant supporting information, including any test data that may exist. Interested firms are invited to submit responses, either electronically or via hard copy, NO LATER THAT 25 DAYS AFTER THE DATE OF THIS ANNOUNCEMENT to the following address: Shannon Wagner, Contract Specialist, U.S. Army TACOM-ARDEC, AMSTA-AQ-APA, Building 10, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000. E-mail: swagner@pica.army.mil, Phone: (973) 724-4152. See Numbered Note 25.
