- Description
- YOU MUST ACCESS THE GCMRC WORLDWIDE WEB SITE FOR FULL INFORMATION ON THIS REQUIREMENT. Point of Contact is Joyce Stevenson, CO, (650) 329-4174 or email jstevenson@usgs.gov. USGS/Grand Canyon Monitoring and Research Center in association with the Adaptive Management Program are required to monitor and evaluate the effects of Glen Canyon Dam operations on downstream resources. One of the resources of concern identified by stakeholders is the aquatic food base. The objectives of this requirement are to quantify the standing biomass, density and composition of the phytobenthic and macroinvertebrate community in the Colorado River. Sampling will be conducted annually during one season (June) at nine predetermined sites distributed throughout three of the major study reaches, Glen, Marble and Grand Canyons. Each sampling site will require 18 random samples at a consistent stage discharge level. All logistical support (boats, food, boat operators) will be provided by GCMRC. Respondents are expected to demonstrate a working scientific knowledge and adequate specialized experience to perform in accordance with the statement of work. This includes identifying and demonstrating the necessary personnel, physical capabilities, methods, sampling approach, quality control and data assurance that are sufficient to accomplish the stated objectives. All raw data, metadata and supporting information that are generated from this effort are to be delivered to GCMRC, and shall conform to applicable data standards and delivery requirements as specified under the terms of the project agreement. All items are to be delivered in digital format on DVD media. FGDC-compliant metadata using the metadata tool in Arc Catalog must be developed for each file delivered. It is anticipated that this annual work will require approximately 20 field days. Anticipated funding is $100,000 each year for three years, subject to availability of funds and verification of requirement. Proposals that meet the objectives specified in the program announcement will be evaluated and accepted or declined in the review process. Proposal formatting instructions are provided in the announcement. Federal assistance applications will be available on the Grand Canyon Monitoring and Research Center's web site. Paper copies may be obtained by calling Serena Mankiller at (928)556-7094. Questions regarding the requirement will be answered and published weekly on the web site. NAICS Code is 54171. The Government reserves the right to select for award all, some, or none of the proposals received, and incrementally fund any award instrument. This announcement should not be construed as commitment or authorization to incur costs in anticipation of an award. Information provided herein is subject to modification and in no way binds the Government to make an award. Contact point is Joyce Stevenson, CO, (650) 329-4174 or email jstevenson@usgs.gov
