- Description
- The University of California, which operates Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) under contract to the U.S. Department of Energy, solicits Letters of Interest from companies that wish to become a distributor of several LANL-developed software products. Company qualifications will be assessed on ? demonstrated track record in software marketing and distribution, ? experience in electronic distribution systems, ? ability to provide customer support service, ? ability to provide technical product support service, and ? technical resources for further software development. Software products to be distributed represent a variety of scientific research tools and consumer end products. Certain software products may be covered by patents as well as copyrights. The selected company will enter into a licensing arrangement with the University. We anticipate that successful commercialization will require extensive interaction between company and LANL software developers. In many cases distributors will be able to contract the LANL software developers to maintain and improve software products. Interested companies are hereby notified that this opportunity is not a procurement. Any company interested in this opportunity must respond with a Letter of Interest that describes how the company meets the requirements listed above. Respondents are encouraged to provide additional documentation such as annual reports, website addresses, and product samples. The Letter of Interest must be received on or before March 31, 2002. Qualified companies will be asked to submit a comprehensive business plan at a later date.
