- Description
- NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE. The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), will be conducting a NORA-funded feasibility research study to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions for reducing the risk of violence to nurses, nursing aides, orderlies, and attendants in health care settings. The purpose of this initial requirement is to obtain data from healthcare facilities with regard to workplace violence prevention strategies in place and the assault experience of health care workers in those facilities. Contractor will gather data on existing policies and procedures regarding workplace violence as well as records on incidents and assaults to potentially include first reports of injury, workers compensation reports, security incident logs or records, OSHA logs or other sources of information. Contractor will also conduct ongoing surveillance of assaults in the enrolled facilities and provide feedback to NIOSH on potential survey design and methods. The project is estimated to take a year and a half to collect data. CDC/NIOSH intends to partner with Seattle King County Health Department (SKCHD), Seattle, WA on a non-competitive basis. SKCHD is considered uniquely qualified to meet the requirements under this procurement because of their established relationship as a trusted liason with all of the health care facilities in Seattle and King County. The previous interactions of SKCHD with the local health care facilities provides an opportunity for effectively assessing data that may not otherwise be readily available. This notice of intent is not a request for quotations. Organizations may respond within 15 days after publication of this notice and demonstrate that they have the expertise and capabilities necessary to meet the stated requirements. Forward information to : Brenda L. Goodwin, Reference: 2002-Q-00369, DHHS, PHS, CDC, NIOSH, ALOSH, 1095 Willowdale Road, Morgantown, WV 26505. Information received will generally be for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. This notice is issued for informational purposes.
