Description

NA This is a Notice to Industry of a Request for Proposal of a U. S. Army requirement for approximately 725 each EPLRS Upgrade Kits for EPLRS Receiver Transmitter (RT?s). These Upgrade Kits will ensure that all EPLRS RT?s previously delivered for the Air Forc e SADL will have the same functional capabilities and ensure interoperability with the Army Transportation Brigades, The Kits consist of the Signal Message Processor (SMP) and the Communications Security (COMSEC) modules. The main function of the SMP modu le is the encoding and decoding of the transmitted and received signals. The COMSEC module is responsible for the encryption and decryption of the transmitted and received signals. The Upgrade Kits will provide improved operational compatibility in the f ield and improve data throughout the SADL. A sole source acquisition to Raytheon Company, Fullerton, CA, is proposed for this Acquisition pursuant to FAR 6.302-1, Only One Responsible Source. The Government does not posses adequate technical data to define the performance or interface requirements for this EPLRS equipment, which precludes a competitive acquisition. Raytheon Co. is the developer, manufacturer and current supplier of the various EPLRS configurations. This notice is published for informational purposes only. See numbered notes 22 a nd 26.
