The edges of the body and top of the pockets shall have a stitched binding which overlaps the edge on both sides approximately 5/16ths of an inch. The pockets shall be either stitched or heat sealed to the backing material in a manner capable of withstanding a direct pull of 25 pounds without tearing or separating. (The 25 pound pull to be exerted on a test mandrel having two legs at least 3 inches long and 1/4 to 1/2 inch wide inserted in a pair of pockets on each side of the stitching or seal). The length of the stitching or seal separating the pockets shall be not less than 60% of the full depth of the pocket, or the full depth minus 1-1/2 inches, whichever provides the greatest length of stitching or seal. A water, mildew, and fungus-resistant cloth tape or webbed strap and buckle shall be attached to the back (outside) surface of the roll body to provide a means of retaining the tool roll in a rolled position. MATERIAL: The roll shall be fabricated from flexible vinyl film having a 1.58 maximum volatility rating, maximum specific gravity of 1.30 and a capacity of passing a -20 degree Fahrenheit Maslan cold crack test. The film used as the backing material shall have a minimum thickness of 18 gage (0.018 inch, plus or minus 0.001) and the pocket material shall have a minimum thickness of 12 gage (0.012 inch, plus or minus 0.001). The color of the backing material shall be optional with the supplier unless a specific color is specified in the contract or order, and the pocket material shall have a matte clear (40% to 50% clear) finish. The material shall be water, mildew, and fungus-resistant. DIMENSIONS: The roll shall have 14 pockets with pocket depths tapering from 2-3/4 inches, to 10-1/2 inches, and widths between stitches or seals of 1-1/8, 1-1/8, 1-1/4, 1-1/4, 1-3/8, 1-1/2, 1-5/8, 1-3/4, 1-7/8, 2, 2-1/8, 2-3/8,2-1/2, 3 inches respectively. Minimum overall dimensions of the body of the roll shall be 18 inches from the bottom of the pockets by 25-1/2 inches along the side perpendicular to the stitches or seals separating the pockets. Tolerances on pocket dimensions shall be plus 1/4 inch, minus zero on dimensions up to 1 inch, and plus 1/2, minus zero on dimensions of 1 inch and over. ITEM MARKING ITEM MARKING: Each item shall be marked with the manufacturer's name or identifying symbol. The marking on the product shall be as specified: Leather product marking shall be stamped (indented) in such a manner that it will remain clear and legible throughout the life of the item. Cloth product marking shall be marked with a weather resistant fast drying ink in such a manner that it will remain clear and legible throughout the life of the item. Metal or plastic product shall be marked by a metal or plastic identification plate riveted or permantly attached to the product, or marked by other means, as long as the marking is durable and legible throughout the life of the product. PACKAGING Packaging in accordance with standard commercial practice. MARKING All unit, intermediate, transport packages and unit loads shall be marked for delivery to civilian activities in accordance with the FED-STD-123G, dated June 6, 1997, or marked for delivery to military activities in accordance with MIL-STD-129N, dated 15, May, 1997, as applicable.
