Description
Contractor to provide A/E services to correct life safety deficiencies identified on the JCAHO Plan for improvement and by the Network Safety & Fire Protection Engineer. The work includes but not limited to modifying the main drains of the existing sprinkler system, installation of fire alarm system devices where required and modifying smoke partitions and doors. A/E shall analyze the existing areas in order to determine the modifications and the deficiencies needing correction. This shall be performed in an audit format. The A/E is required to incorporate the VA architectural, mechanical and electrical engineering standards and other federal, state and local recommendations into their design including JCAHO and Life Safety Code Standards. The A/E will also be required to update all as-built drawings provided by the VA concerning this project upon completion. This submission must be delivered to the VA on CAD and Mylar. The A/E services will include various phases of design starting with a site survey and design analysis and following through with working drawings and specifications. A cost estimate shall be required for each design review milestone. The project shall be phased to provide a minimum interruption to the medical center activities and coordinated outage of utility systems during construction. The A/E shall date and certify all reports, studies and submissions. This is a 100% Total Small Business Set-Aside. Estimated construction cost is between $250,000 and $500,000. The NAICS code is 541310. SF 254's and SF 255's are due in this office by COB 3/21/02. This is not a Request for Proposal. Firms will be evaluated on Professional Qualifications necessary for satisfactory performance of required services including of professional registration experience and technical competence of the team proposed for this project in related areas of the type of work required; capacity to accomplish the work in the required time; past performance on contracts with Government agencies, and compliance with performance schedules.
