- Description
- The Committee for Purchase From People Who Are Blind or Severely Disabled (Committee) is pursuing partnerships with U.S. commercial suppliers of prepaid long distance telephone cards which meet the following criteria: 1) Must be a long haul carrier with possession of a nationally known brand name, and demonstrate that it can supply prepaid long distance services across the continental United States, as well as provide inbound and outbound international calling at highly competitive rates. 2) Successful supplier must agree to co-brand the telephone card, and provide employment opportunities for blind or visually impaired workers in the areas of fulfillment and inbound call center services in support of the telephone card offering to federal customers. 3) A prepaid telephone card point of sale solution must operate across a Visa-Mastercard network, using existing hardware and software point of sale system. 4) Willingness to enter into a multi-year agreement, which includes technical assistance, to have a nonprofit agency that meets the criteria of the Javits-Wagner-O'Day Program to assemble or package the products (or furnish services) in question, thereby creating employment for people who are blind or severely disabled. 5) Commitment to working independently and with the JWOD team to market the products to Government customers under the JWOD Program. 6) Willingness to work with the nonprofit agency, NIB or NISH and the Committee to ensure that the products' price to end-users is a fair and reasonable price. 7) Manufacturers' submissions must demonstrate that the specific products meet the various criteria, as well as indicate what functions the nonprofit agency's employees would perform. NOTE: ONLY RESPONSES FROM COMMERCIAL SUPPLIERS ARE REQUESTED AT THIS TIME. The deadline for response if April 3, 2002.
