Description
NA On or about 19 March 2002, this office will issue Invitation for Bids for the construction of Sioux Falls Flood Control Phase 1C, Sioux Falls, SD. Bids will be opened on or about 18 April 2002. This project is set-aside under the Historically Underutilize d Business Zone (HUBZone) Program. To be considered for award, the successful bidder must be a Certified HUBZone Contractor in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation 19.1303. Status as a qualified HUBZone small business concern is determined by t he Small Business Administration (SBA) in accordance with 13 CFR part 126. If the SBA determines that a concern is a qualified HUBZone small business concern, it will issue a certificate to that effect and will add the concern to the List of Qualified HUB Zone Small Business Concerns on its Internet website at http://www.sba.gov/hubzone. DO NOT submit requests for plans and specifications to the site visit personnel listed above. See Or dering below. The work will include the following: (Approx. quantities) This contract includes modifications to the existing reinforced concrete chute and stilling basin structure, associated subdrain system, and construction of a new interceptor sewer. Modifications to the chute and stilling basin structure includes excavation of backfill, drilling and grouting reinforcing, addition of 14 new counterforts and footing extensions on one side of the structure. Other work required during construction is de watering, and diversion of water. The interceptor sewer portion of this project includes construction of approximately 960 feet of 66 in. RCP, 660 feet of 36 in. PVC and 240 feet of 48 in. PVC gravity sewers. Also included are manholes, diversion structu res, manual and motor operated valves and gates, controls and sensors, and other associated items. Existing lines are to be modified as required for use in temporary diversion of sewer flows during the construction period and then subsequently removed. Th e construction site was previously occupied by a wastewater treatment plant; therefore numerous existing underground utilities and partially demolished structures will be encountered during construction. The estimated construction cost of this project is between $750,000 and $1,000,000. Contractor's Quality Control will be a requirement in this contract. The Contractor will be required to commence work within 10 days after notice to proceed and complete the work 180 calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed. Provisions will be in cluded for liquidated damages in case of failure to complete the work in the time allowed. Performance and payment bonds will be required. The plans and specifications are available on Compact Disk (CD-ROM) and will be provided free of charge. It has bee n determined that the number of Compact Disks be limited to one (1) per firm. Plans and Specifications will not be provided in a printed hard copy format.
