- Description
- Battelle is contemplating issuing an RFP for a single vendor to provide fabricated metal devices. Under a Non-Disclosure Agreement, selected vendor would use design specifications to fabricate all-titanium or titanium alloy devices. The devices are laminated structures consisting of numerous components bonded into a single unit with multiple internal hermetically isolated regions. The bonded area of a device < 40 in2 (260 cm2) and the maximum dimension is < 7.25 in (18.5 cm), projected as a circle. Requires expertise in conventional machining, including boring, tapping, milling, and surface grinding, of titanium to high tolerances (e.g., surface grinding to 0.0005-in. flatness and parallelism, and a 16-?in. surface finish). Also requires expertise in photochemical machining of titanium stock in precise patterns and etch depths, and diffusion bonding of laminates to produce a hermetic device. Inert-atmosphere titanium-titanium welding and/or titanium-stainless steel bonding may be necessary to complete fabrication. Interested parties should fax a brief statement of capabilities outlining past experience in these fields of fabrication to the Point of Contact at the number listed below.
