- Description
- The Naval Air Systems Command intends to procure, on a competitive basis, the Personal Locator Beacon Voice Transceiver with Swimmer's Control Unit and the Emergency Locator Transmitter. These radios provide triple frequency alert with near instant global notification, transmitting digital messages to the Search and Rescue Satellite System using internationally recognized distress protocols. First Article Testing requirements will be mandatory for radios not previously qualified by the Navy. The draft Statement of Work, Specifications, and Contract Data Requirements List will be available on or about 18 March 2002 through the NAVAIR homepage at: http://contracts.navair.navy.mil/solicitations.cfm . All interested parties shall submit a written request to the NAVAIR POC: Melissa Lopez via e-mail at: Lopezmb@navair.navy.mil. The request shall include email address, name of point of contact, telephone and fax numbers as well as a mailing address. Responses without an email address, mailing address or telephone number will not be recognized. All responsible sources may submit comments/recommendations, which will be considered by the agency. Comments will be accepted until 18 April 2002 and shall be submitted electronically to Melissa Lopez at the email address above. A presolicition conference may be conducted during April 2002. A final solicitation will be issued on or about July 2002 and will close 30 days after issuance. The solicitation will only be made available via the NAVAIR homepage. Hard copies will not be provided. Offerors who respond to this synopsis will be notified via email when the solicitation is released. All amendments will be posted at the same Internet website. After solicitation release, vendors should regularly access the website to ensure that they have all amendments. Award will be made on or about October 2002. All responsible sources may submit a proposal, which shall be considered by the agency. See numbered note 9.
