Description

The Optical Science Laboratory at the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), within the USGS National Mapping Program, Eastern Region Geographic Science Center, is the only full service laboratory in the Western Hemisphere for the precise calibration of civilian aerial mapping camera systems and lenses used in the aerial mapping programs of all State and Federal agencies. USGS' current contract for these services will expire on March 31, 2002. The USGS intends to award a sole source interim purchase order to The Orkand Corporation of Falls Church, VA using the Simplified Acquisition Procedures under FAR Part 13 to acquire the services of a skilled and experienced staff to manage and operate the OSL. The period of performance for this order is from April 1, 2002 through August 15, 2002. A solicitation to award a five-year contract after completion of this purchase order will be issued during the April/May timeframe.
