Description
Concerns having the ability to furnish the services described herein are requested to give written notification (including the telephone number for a point of contact) to the procuring office above within 45 calendar days from the date of this synopsis. The U.S. Geological Survey, Geologic Discipline, Energy Team, has a requirement for a multi-year lease of software, maintenance and technical support for geologic and geophysical petroleum exploration software. This agreement shall allow the USGS software lease license holder?s unlimited access to technical support and regular software maintenance for the duration of the contract. Vendor shall provide software, updates, maintenance and customer support on all of the 14 various licenses (i.e.OpenWorks, OpenExplorer Desktop, OpenJournal, OpenVision, SeisWorks 2-D, SeisWorks 3-D, Syntool, TDQ, FZAP, Zmap Plus, StratWorks, SeisCube & Petro Works Asset, GeoData Loading, ZAP). The U.S. Geological Survey is a partner in a cooperative agreement with a company that uses Landmark Graphics, Inc. software, and stores its geologic/geophysical interpretation and 2-D/3-D seismic data in Landmark Graphics, Inc. OpenWorks format. The cooperator proposes to share its interpretations and 3-D seismic data with the U.S. Geological Survey and requests that results are returned in the same format. The U. S. Geological Survey must be able to easily assimilate data and return the results in Landmark Graphics OpenWorks format. Also, the U.S. Geological Survey scientists must be able to communicate in the same software language as its partners. The USGS currently uses Landmark Graphics PC based interpretation software from GeoGraphix. Therefore, it is essential that data and interpretations be able to share a common database and be able to exchange data seamlessly between the proposed UNIX based and in place PC based software. In addition, the USGS requires the option of purchasing customized training to be taught in Denver, Colorado. Rates to be quoted at price per day for up to 10 days. Prices shall be for a single trainer and up to 8 students per class. Topic shall be Landmark Graphics Basic Tech Set Software. Based on the information available at this time, and in accordance with 41 U.S.C. 253 (c) (1), implemented by FAR 6.302-1, the Government considers the items specified as a sole source from Landmark Graphics Inc., Houston, Texas, and proposes to negotiate a contract with that firm. However should additional sources be identified, they will be considered. Firms who feel that they can furnish the required item/services or its functional equivalent (based upon the criteria specified herein) are invited to submit in writing an affirmative response to this announcement. An affirmative response would include literature, brochures and such other materials, which correspond to the required items stated herein. This information will be evaluated and used to determine if competitive opportunities exist. Since no solicitation document exists, request for such document without accompanying information will be considered non-responsive to this request without further consideration. This notice may represent the Government?s only official notice to the procurement. This is open to both large and small business. See note 12 and 22.
