Description

Seismic repair bldg. 2593 FFP - Structural Work: Modifications are required to improve the lateral force resisting systems of the building. This requires the addition and modification of shear walls, connections and the tying together of the structure along lines of lateral support. Work consists of full height concrete buttress walls with concrete auger pile supports, horizontal trusses to transfer loads, interior shear walls of steel and carbon fiber overlays of CMU walls and improvement of building base shear resistance by installation of auger cast piles. Non-Structural Items: All computer cabinets, mechanical units, piping and lighting fixtures are to be tied down to prevent overturning. Computer access flooring and supports will be modified, removed and replaced. The existing fire alarm system will be modified and a new control system will be installed. Interior painting of selected areas is required. Exterior Work: A new perimeter sub drain is to be installed. Asphalt paving, concrete sidewalks and turf affected by construction will be modified or replaced. Buried utilities near the building such as water, sewer, steam, storm drainage, electrical power and communications will need to be protected, modified or replaced. Exterior horizontal trusses will be covered, requiring some roof and gutter repair and replacement. Painting is required. Modification of exterior stairs, window and other openings is required.
