Description

NA POC: Mark Haldeman, AMSOS-CCM, (309) 782-3414, email: haldemanm@osc.army.mil The U.S. Army Operations Support Command (OSC) is seeking firms interested in the production of any of the vaious types of small/medium caliber ammuntion link components ranging in size form 5.56mm to 40mm caliber. The links are used to assemble ammunitio n into metallic belts which feed the ammunition into a variety of NATO approved automatic weapons. Interested parties are requested to provide, by 3 April 2002, any discussions that demonstrate OEM capabilities to produce the following U.S. military speci fication (MIL SPECO links:) M-27 (5.56mm), M-13 (7.62mm), M-9 and M-15A2 (.50 cal), M-14A2 and M-14A2N (20mm), M-28 (25mm) M-16A2 (40mm) LINK CHARACTERISTICS: Generic processes to manufacture ammunition links primarily involve operations of stamping blank forms from coiled sheet metal steel stock (.015 to .034 inch thickness), forming the blanks progressively into the desired link configur ation (part sizes range from 1.5 inch by .75 inch to 2.0 inch by 2.5 inch), cleaning, welding in some cases, heat treating, phospating and final pack.
