Description
The National Cancer Institute on behalf of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), along with scientific leadership of its sister institutes, proposes to enter into a sole source contract with Nature Publishing Group, The MacMillan Company, 4 Crinan Street, London, UK. The mission of the NINDS and its sister institutes is to foster the dissemination of current research developments throughout the scientific community, NINDS has determined that it is necessary to publish a summary of current research efforts in the sub-discipline of neuroscience dealing with nonmamalian model organisms in order to reach its targeted audiences in the community of active scientific investigators which are grantees or potential grantees of the National Institutes of Health. Publication in Nature, with an audience of more than 50,000 subscribers is the most effective forum for reaching such an audience. Nature Publishing Group, is the only source known to the NCI researchers that can provide the necessary services required. However, if any interested party believes it can meet the above requirements, it may submit a statement of capabilities. The capability statement and any other furnished information must be in writing and must contain material in sufficient detail to allow the NCI to determine if the party can fully meet the requirements herein. Capability statements must be received in the contracting office no later than 2:00 P.M. EST on April 3, 2002. This action is pursuant to 41 USC 253(1) and under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received shall be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No collect calls will be accepted.
