Description
This amendment is issued to revise the solicitation as follows: Delivery time is changed from NLT 30 days ARO to NLT 30 May 2002. The quantity of 10 each is decreased by two to 8 each only. The closing date is extended to 26 March 2002. No questions regarding the solicitation will be entertained after 21 March 2002. Following is a list of answers to questions submitted. Q: Do the vessels have to be ASME stamped due to 120 psig design? A: ASME stamp is not required. Q: Would it be acceptable to submit drawing to you, via fax, for your review . . . to make sure we understand what you are asking for, in regard to the design/fabrication of the demineralizer? A: Yes Q: Also, when/if we decide to quote, is a drawing to accompany SF1449/FAR52.212-3 at the time of submitting quote? A: Yes Q: What size flange and bolt pattern is desired? A: Flange opening should be large enough to replace the internal strainers and the bolt pattern should be compatible with the pressure rating of the vessel. A standard or non-standard flange may be used. Q: What are the desired lengths of the "vertical pipe stubs welded on cover for inlet and outlet connections? A: No specific length is required but the pipe stub must be positioned for installing a hose coupling at the end of the pipe. Q: What are the desired lengths of the "2 horizontal pipe stubs welded to vessel for sluicing connections"? Are these pipe stubs for evacuating the expended resin bed and replacing it with new resin? A: No specific length is required but the pipe stub must be positioned for installing a valve at the end of the pipe. Piping will be used for discharge and replacement of resin. Q: Is the contractor expected to provide any valves or fittings on the horizontal and vertical pipe stubs? A: No Q: Is the "3 cu. ft." an indicator of tank sizing, or is the tank to be supplied with 3 cu. ft. of resin already installed? A: 3 cu. ft. refers to the nominal capacity of the vessel. The vessel must be empty. Q: What is the preferred means of supporting or securing the tank - a flanged base for bolting to the floor, structural legs on the tank, or some other type of base? A: Structural legs are preferred. Q: Could you provide plan and installation drawings, if available, to show how the demineralizer tanks will be installed? A: Plans/drawings are not authorized for public release Q: Is there a size preference for the flanged cover? A: Flange opening should be large enough to replace the internal strainers. Q: Is this a bolted flange? i.e. class 150 flange? A: The flange must be bolted and the bolt pattern should be compatible with the pressure rating of the vessel. A standard or non-standard flange may be used. Q: Are the horizontal pipe stubs attached to the vessel wall? A: The upper pipe stub should be positioned to allow filling of 3 cu. ft. of media. The lower pipe stub should be positioned to allow complete discharge of media. Q: Is the media bed supported by anything other than the vessel bottom head, e.g. coated concrete bed support or flat screen bed support? A: No support other than bottom head of vessel. Q: Are the pipe stubs NPT? A: Pipe stubs shall be unthreaded. Q: Is the delivery duration of 30 calendar days or standard work days? A: Duration per FISC Q: Size of vessels? A: Vessel sized to contain 3 cu. ft. of resin media. Q: Spacing between vertical pipes A: Spacing should accomodate the upper strainer for inlet pipe and hose couplings for inlet and outlet pipes. Q: Length of pipes A: No specific length is required but the pipe stub must be positioned for installing a hose coupling or valve at the end of the pipe. All other terms and conditions remains unchanged.
