- Description
- The Postal Service is seeking Qualification Statements from construction companies wishing to be Prequalified for the award of a fixed price contract for the renovation of an approximate 40,000 square foot masonry building on a 5.1 acre site into a Postal Carrier facility. The project scope of work includes interior demolition and renovation, build out of office, support and workroom spaces, site work drainage structures, utilities, and paving for 286 vehicles. The existing 1950?s era industrial building is located at 4301 W. 69th Street, and Kostner Ave, Chicago, IL 60632-9998. The estimated cost range is approximately $2,400,000 to $2,700,000. Construction completion time will be approximately 300 calendar days. The project has a planned construction start date of July 2002. Only the most pre-qualified contractors will be qualified. To be considered for prequalification, the company must be financially capable, and have five (5) years experience as a construction company with two (2) comparable major renovation construction projects, at least one (1) completed, and one (1) in progress during the past five (5) years. Comparable projects are defined as the sizeable renovation of an older building into present day use. The contractor?s Qualification Statements will be evaluated by the Contracting Officer?s staff in accordance with the following past performance and supplier capability criteria listed in order of importance: construction experience and performance on similar industrial renovation projects, financial stability, project management identified, capacity and references of previous clients, scheduling, and company organization. Participation of minority-owned and woman-owned firms is encouraged. The USPS intends to issue drawings, specifications and a Request for Proposal (RFP) only to the PREQUALIFIED companies and will then select the offeror that represents the Best Value to the U.S. Postal Service. All firms will be advised within 60 days of receipt of their application as to prequalification status. Interested firms that meet the minimum criteria stated above may obtain a Contractor Qualification Statement by written request to Ms. Teri L. Wilcox or via email twilcox@email.usps.gov. Qualification statements will be available on or about March 22, 2002 with a return due date of April 16, 2002 at 3:00 PM CST. The completed Qualification Statement, two (2) copies, should be delivered via one of the many services provided by the U.S. Postal Service or hand delivered to the Great Lakes Facilities Service Office, 62 Stratford Drive, Bloomingdale, IL 60117-7000, Attention: Teri L. Wilcox. Qualification Statements will not be returned. Award of construction contract will be contingent upon project and funding approval. This is not a request for proposal.
