- Description
- The United States Coast Guard is considering whether or not to set aside an acquisition for HUBZone concerns only. The estimated value of this procurement is between $100,000 and $500,000. The small business size standard is less than 1,000 employees. The acquisition is for dockside repairs to the USCGC CHOCK (WYTL 65602), a 65 Foot "A" Class Harbor Tug. All work will be performed in Portsmouth, Virginia, the cutter's homepier. The performance period is for 42 days. The scope of the acquisition is for the overhauling, modifying, cleaning and repairing of various items aboard the USCGC CHOCK (WYTL 65602). This work is such as, but not limited to: welding repairs, clean and inspect diesel fuel tanks, clean, inspect and disinfect potable water tank(s), clean and inspect sewage and grey water collection and holding tanks, remove, inspect and reinstall propeller shaft, fabricate and install propeller seal retainer, renew shaft covering, straighten shaft, renew water-lubricated shaft bearings, renew shaft sleeves, renew stuffing box sleeve, remove and reinstall propeller, perform minor repair and reconditioning of propeller, clean, renew and test grid coolers, preserve the transducer hull ring and install the V850 transducer, overhaul and renew valves, overhaul steering gear system, remove, inspect, and reinstall rudder assembly, renew rudder bearings, inspect various deck fittings, preserve sewage holding tank, prepare and prime weather decks, preserve underwater body, prepare and prime freeboard, provide temporary berthing, provide temporary logistics, routine drydocking, renew fuel tank access covers, remove and reinstall sewage holding tank, renew hatch, overhaul ventilation fan/motor assembly, renew aft mooring bitts, preserve voids, etc. All welding and brazing shall be accomplished by trained welders, who have been certified by the applicable regulatory code performance qualification procedures. At the present time, the acquisition is expected to be issued under full and open competition procedures. In your response you must include: (a) a positive statement of your intention to submit a bid for this solicitation as a prime contractor; (b) evidence of experience in work similar in type and scope to include contract numbers, project titles, dollar amounts, points of contact and telephone numbers. (c) past performance references with points of contact and phone numbers. At least two references are requested, but more are desirable. Your response is required by 02 APR 2002. All of the above must be submitted in sufficient detail for a decision to be made on a HUBZone set aside. Failure to submit all information requested may result in an unrestricted acquisition. A decision on whether this will be pursued as a HUBZone small business set aside or on an unrestricted basis will be posted in the CBD.
