Description
The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute intend to negotiate on a noncompetitive basis with the Boston University School of Medicine, 715 Albany Street, Boston, Massachusetts, 02118, to purchase sixteen (16) cage units for housing nonhuman primates (NHP). The caging is currently being used to house the primates at the Boston University and will be use to house the primates once they arrive at the National Institute of Health, Animal Center, Building 103 Room 1A02b, 16701 Elmer School Road, Poolesville, Maryland, 20837, April 15, 2002. The NIH, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), has an on collaborative research effort with the Boston University using the NHP. As a continuation of the research effort the NHP will be shipped to NIH and the cages are urgently needed to house the NHP. The North American Industry Classification (NAICS) Code is 339999 and the Size Standard is 500 employees for this requirement. The are no small business set-aside restrictions for this requirement. This acquisition is being conducted under simplified acquisition procedures, and exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this requirement. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct future competitive procurement. Responses to this announcement, referencing synopsis number NHLBI-PS-2002-057 must be submitted in writing to National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, Contracts Operations Branch, Procurement Section, 6701 Rockledge Drive, Suite 6042, Bethesda, MD 20814-7902, Attention: Deborah Coulter. Fax quotations will only be accepted if dated and signed by an authorized company representative. All responsible sources may submit a proposal, which if timely received, shall be considered by the agency.
