Description
The United States Coast Guard Maintenance and Logistics Command Atlantic (MLCA) proposes to procure a sole source supply for one (1) each Caterpillar Marine Diesel Engine with attached generator set, model 3508B (MEUI) Diesel, (electronic fuel injection, turbo charged, after-cooled) with generator rated 450 KW and diesel engine rated 656HP at 1200 RPM (as per General Arrangement Number 180-0454). This item is for land-based use at the United States Coast Guard Training Center Yorktown, VA for the Engineering and Weapons Schools. This item will be used to train mechanics on repair and servicing the engines used on new Class WLB Buoy tenders. This item may be purchased from Caterpillar or its authorized dealers, distributors or representatives. Applicable requirements relating to this equipment will be provided in the solicitation. The equipment will be delivered FOB destination to the United States Coast Guard Reserve Training Center, Yorktown, VA. The type of contract will be a firm fixed price contract; past performance will be evaluated. This procurement is a sole source pursuant to 10 U.S. C. 2304 (c). Interested parties are notified that this solicitation will be available exclusively through the Internet on 12 April 2002. The solicitation, its attachments, and all amendments will be published for viewing and printing at http://www.uscg.mil/mlclant/fdiv/fdiv.htm. Prospective offerors must register on this site to obtain the solicitation. It is the offerors responsibility to periodically check the website for amendments to the solicitation. No paper copies of the solicitation or the amendments will be issued. The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.501. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. The Department of Transportation (DOT) Short-Term Lending Program (STLP) offers working capital financing in the form of lines of credit to finance accounts receivable for transportation related contracts.
